Navajo silversmith Peter Nelson was born in 1954. He grew up on the Navajo reservation in White Cone AZ. Peter is a graduate of the Institute of American Indian Art in Santa Fe NM where he first learned to paint and then silversmith. He is the recipient of multiple blue ribbon awards including Santa Fe Indian Market and Gallup Intertribal Ceremonial.Much of Peter’s inspiration for his unique jewelry designs come from his mom and sisters who weave Two Grey Hills and Ganado Navajo rugs. He incorporates the traditional rug designs into his handmade silver bracelets, earrings, pendants, rings, buckles, bolos, money clips and key rings. Peter is married with 3 children and grandchildren. In addition to creating beautiful sterling silver overlay jewelry, Peter enjoys spending time with his family and riding his horses.
